Mit ihrem siebten Album "Narkissos" legen FORTÍÐ ein Meisterwerk vor, das in vielen Jahresbestenlisten weit oben stehen wird. Das isländische Trio hat sich dabei kaum verändert, es macht einfach alles noch besser als zuvor. FORTÍÐ schmieden melodischen Riff-Stahl aus Black, Death, Thrash und Heavy Metal zu einer scharfen Klinge zusammen. Die Isländer legen ihren Fokus nicht auf ein bestimmtes Genre, sondern sie konzentrieren sich alleine auf das Schreiben exzellenter Songs. Das Ergebnis sind die neun eingängigen und feurigen Metal-Hymnen auf Narkissos". Die Koordinaten ihrer langen musikalischen Reise legten FORTÍÐ bereits mit der ambitionierten "Völuspá"-Albumtrilogie fest, die von 2003 bis 2010 erschien. Die anfängliche Kombination aus hartem Black und Death Metal Riffing mit einer Prise Thrash und einem Hang zu epischen Melodien, vielseitigem Gesang sowie einer kräftigen Dosis "isländischem Sound" wurde auf dem gefeierten vierten Album "Pagan Prophecies" (2012) ebenso wie auf dem folgenden Langspieler "9" (2015) kontinuierlich verfeinert. Mit dem dunklen sechsten Album "World Serpent" (2020) schlugen FORTÍÐ ihren aktuellen Kurs ein, der über die Zwei-Track-EP "Dómur um dauðan hvern" (2022) direkt zu "Narkissos" führte. Lyrisch bleiben FORTÍÐ trotz dem Verweis auf den klassischen Mythos im Titel auf altnordischem und heidnischem Kurs. Bandkopf Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson hat im nordischen Kontext ein konzeptionelles Garn über einen Charakter mit der sogenannten narzisstischen Persönlichkeitsstörung gesponnen, das sich als Roter Faden durch "Narkissos" zieht. FORTÍÐ liefern ein Metal-Album auf der Höhe der Zeit ab, das die Isländer sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich auf einen neuen Höhepunkt führt und garantiert sein Publikum finden wird.
