KC-46A: this two engine jet-powered air-to-air tanker and strategic airlift plane is the new addition to the Air Force's tanker fleet. She will be joined the KC-10 providing mid-air refueling. The USAF hopes to retire the older KC-135s still in service. The new aircraft has a small crew of two pilots and a boom operator, and has 15 permanent seats. It can have seating for 144 people, 18 463L pallets or 58 patients (24 litters, 34 ambulatory). It cruises at 530 mph, with a service ceiling of 40,100 feet and a range of 6,385 nmi global with flight refueling. Travis AFB has received this model for trials.
