Description. Vintage tea set consisting of a teapot with rattan handle and two tea bowls.
The set is decorated with a pattern of delicate lilies with gold accents. The teapot has a design on both sides. There is a grate inside the teapot that prevents large tea leaves from spilling into the mug. A rubber nozzle is placed on the outside of the kettle spout.
The set was made at the Otagiri factory. The factory was headquartered in San Francisco, but most of its products were manufactured in Japan.
A little information. Etymologically “Otagiri” consists of “O” and “tagiri”. “O” is a prefix of Japanese. “Tagiri” is the gerund of the verb “tagiru” (it means the motion of water like “boil”). In Nagano Prefecture there are many such place names like "Tagiri", “Ô-tagiri”, "Naka-tagiri", “Inu-tagiri”, “Fut-tagiri”, and “Ka-tagiri”.
