On November 18, 1899, the Fayard publishing house decided to replace „La Jeunesse amusante“, launched in April 1897, with „Le Bon Vivant“, the family's humorous newspaper, targeting both high-school students and their parents. The magazine came out every Saturday and included 16 pages of comic illustrated stories, sometimes with the central double page in color. On March 20, 1910, the numbering stopped at 540, and a new series began, which ended on January 8, 1911, after 43 issues: „Le Bon Vivant“ then merged with the „Diabolo-Journal“, also a Fayard publication.
