Maxfield Parrish’s “Sinbad Plots Against The Giant” (AKA ‘Third Voyage Of Sinbad’). Original Double Matted and Period-Framed Color Illustration (facing page 306) from the 1909 ‘First Edition’ of Wiggin & Smith’s ‘The Arabian Nights’. The image is 6 1/2”x 5 1/4”. Outermost frame dimensions are 11 1/2”x 9 1/2”. The repurposed frame is from the 40’s and painted flat black. I thought it worked well. Nicely double-matted (black inner, textured ecru outer (photo #9) and backed with 2-ply acid-free rag museum board, new hardware and dustcover, November, 2023 and ready to hang. Parrish’s MP signature in lower right corner (photo #7). A nice cost/size alternative to the (Rarely Ever Seen) full size print (Ref. Flack’s 4th page 54, very last photo). This was originally painted for and appeared as the color frontispiece for the February 9, 1907 issue of Colliers Magazine, issued as a print the same year, and finally as this illustration in the 1909 Wiggin & Smith publication (and several subsequent editions). Note: The first 11 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues, photos 12, 13 & 14 after completion of project: photos 15 thru 18, the book itself, and tissue lining is shown for provenance only. The book is NOT included, the tissue lining WILL be included. I refund shipping charges over actual. Please visit my other Parrish listings. Thanks for looking.
