Majestic ELKS antique Silver Plate Soup Tureen.   Beautifully detailed Elk Heads on sides, and a reposing elk as finial.  Elk have a spread of 5".   Legs and Hooves of elk make the legs of the tureen.  Beaded rim around top.  Why there isn't a maker's mark, I do not know.  This piece would make any silver plate company proud!  Please note that the elk on the lid has NO antlers.  There are 2 small indents.  Tarnished, but you could polish to a beautiful shine.  

SIZE:    Approx :    14" + or - across from nose to nose.  Stands about 10 1/2" to top of elk finial.   Diameter of Tureen itself is about 8 7/8" at widest.  

CONDITION:    Pre owned,  PATINA and age darkening and silver plate wear.  Expected surface wear consisting of light scratches, scuffs,  most, if not all, should polish out.    Again, no antlers on the finial.  Please note each of the legs has a small, round mold hole.   The lid is a tight fit, and takes a bit of effort to press it into place.  May have had a glass bowl liner at one time.        This will make a stunning addition to your collection.      Please see my other items listed.
