    • The singing bowl - Singing bowls. These bowls are commonly called Tibetan singing bowls, gong bowls or rin gongs. Some call them Himalayan bowls or suzu gongs. In all senses a singing bowl or gong is a metal object that produces a particular type of sound. So these singing bowls can also be called singing bells or bell bowls. These are not bells hanging outside the temples but bowls placed on a base, for example on the ground or on a table. They come with a stick normally made of wood to hit them and make a sound. Striking the bowls with the wooden stick in a defined pattern or style produces a harmony that can create calming effects for those who hear it. These singing bowls are increasingly used in many therapies by healthcare providers to relax the mind and body all over the world and especially in China, Nepal and India. In India, a version of these bowls is known as Jal tarring, where seven bowls filled with water are used to produce soothing music creating a healing effect. The most common motif on the outside of the singing bowl is the mantra om mani padme hum. There are also designs like the eternity knot symbol at the bottom of the singing bowl and the double dorje symbol.
