For your consideration is an antique Chinese carved wooden wedding or grain basket with a woven bamboo joined double handle. Dating to the mid-19th century, this well preserved example stands approximately 9” in height exclusive of the handle, 18” to the top of the handle, and measures 14” in diameter. A classic bat motif decorates the top of the lid with a finely detailed scalloped relief carved on the vessel’s body at the edge of the opening. In overall good condition to be 150+/- years old, there is expected wear, rubbing, mild wood separation and splits that are commensurate to age and history of use.
