Description: A copy in reverse of the print by Jacques Callot (L 548)
Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after J. Callot. Jacques Callot (1592-1635) was a Nancy born etcher who developed a very personal style in his work. His prints were already famous during his live. Due to this popularity many copies were made and his style and method of working influenced many 17th. century printmakers.

Subject: Antique print, untitled. The crucifixion of Christ. A large number of (partly mounted) soldiers are depicted watching the raising of the cross on which Christ is hung.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. A faint stain in the top right corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
