Nelson Domínguez studied at the San Alejandro Academy of Plastic Arts and at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana where he has been a professor and head of the Painting Department. Of peasant ancestry, he proudly brings to his work the motifs of landscapes and intimate and collective places of transcendental Cubanness; his red, ocher and sepia tones bring us closer to the earth, his thick, solid and dark stroke reminds us of the coal. In constant experimentation, he assumes the most dissimilar supports with a line that distinguishes him among the expressionist figurative, his themes of identity rootedness are diluted in a very personal poetics. His works can be found in important museum collections such as; National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, Merugo Museum of Japan, Herbeat F. Jonson Art Museum of the United States and The Presidential House, Los Pinos, of Mexico among others.

Nelson Domínguez estudió en Academia de Artes Plásticas San Alejandro y en el Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana donde ha sido profesor y jefe del Departamento de Pintura. De ascendencia campesina lleva con orgullo a su obra los motivos de paisajes y parajes íntimos y colectivos de una cubanidad trascendental; sus tonos rojos, ocres y sepias nos acercan a la tierra, su trazo grueso, sólido y oscuro nos recuerdan a la  hulla. En constante experimentación asume los más disimiles soportes con una línea que lo distingue entre la figuración expresionista, sus temas de arraigo identitario se diluyen en una poética muy personal. Sus obras se encuentran en importantes colecciones de Museos tales como; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba, Museo Merugo de Japón, Museo de Arte Herbeat F. Jonson de Estados Unidos y La Casa Presidencial, Los Pinos, de México entre otros.
