Exquisitely made and highly burnished terracotta figure of richly adorned standing warrior. This exquisite hand-built standing pottery warrior of a sizable form displays fierce expression while holding an axe like weapon. The man is adorned with both facial and chest tattoos. He also displays headband in addition to both ear and nose rings. Covered in lustrous red slip, this is a fabulous example of ancient shaft-tomb pottery! The body is painted overall in reddish with details in cream. Piece has beautiful patina with heavy areas of earthen and manganese mineral deposits throughout (see pics).
