In very good condition, 3 antique engravings of dogs made by Charles George Lewis (1808-1880), J. C. Armytage, and S. Allen, after the original paintings by Sir Edward Landseer RA (1802-1873). The pictures come from "The Works of Sir Edward Landseer" published by J. S. Virtue & Co, and date to circa 1870. The size of the pictures is about 14.0 cm x 18.2 cm with margins of 3.4 cm or greater. Charles George Lewis was a British printmaker who had a facility for etching, engraving and mezzotint and often made prints after the works of Landseer. Edwin Landseer was a famous Victorian painter of animals, especially dogs and deer. His works were collected by Queen Victoria and he was responsible for the design of the lions in Trafalgar Square.
