ORGINAL WELCOME HOME BANNER 


The banner was to commemorate "Charlie Duke Day" in his hometown of Lancaster, SC.  A homecoming celebration with parade and dignatories was held. Richard Nixon's brother Edward was present to represent the White House. The banner and patches came from Bill Duke, Charlie's brother.  According to Charlie Duke's memoirs, there were a dozen of these banners at the Duke Day stadium in Lancaster. Duke: "The stadium was packed. The bleachers were decorated with dozens of Springmaid cotton sheets, which had been silk-screened with a picture of me in my space suit, the Apollo 16 patch and the words WELCOME HOME printed across the top.  Everywhere there were American and South Carolina flags waving proudly. Length 205 cm Height 144 cm.
