Platinum Fountain Pen Co., Ltd. has jointly developed a brush pen that allows even beginners to easily write brush strokes with the calligraphy artist Soun Takeda.

　Soun runs a calligraphy class for people of all ages, and has been wondering if there was a "brush pen" that would allow beginners and anyone else to enjoy the feeling of writing with a brush with ease. After a year and a half of development, the concept was worked out from scratch, and a "brush pen" with a newly developed tip was completed, named "Soubutsu" after Mr. Soun.

　The structure of the "Soubutsu" is soft at the tip and firm at the back, allowing many people to feel the touch of the brush and to express a firm tome, spring, and hali. The amount of ink on the tip is designed to be the highest in the center of the tip and lower as it moves to the periphery. This allows for the writing of flexible, halai-like brush strokes, and in particular, the creation of "just the right amount of splintering," which is characteristic of halai brushes.
