Hello to all,

We just inherited an estate from our grandfather, OPA. There will be several books, art pieces and random stuff that we found, for sale. The books mostly consist of psychology, history and fiction. We were hoping to sell them online.

I attempted to make each listing short and concise as this job will require a lot of time. However, I do want to provide everyone online with the exact item they ordered. Please let me know if you have any questions about the listings. We are not experts in any of this but we will try our best to list items at a competitive price. We would like the items to get sold but would also like making a decent profit.

Please consider the pictures and this description as a part of the listing. The description begins with the item for sale followed by the item's condition. The condition portion has been relegated to a yes and no Q&A matrix located as the last picture.  Please also reference the frequently asked questions part of the listing.

While I may not describe everything perfectly in the description, I do think the pictures and the basic matrix will make an excellent supplement. I will try my best to be very thorough. However, if the item does not meet your expectations I do accept returns.

Please allow one business day after cleared payment for the item to ship. All items will be properly handled and shipped with plenty of padding. Thank you

Advanced - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do you mean there is “writing” in the book?

For the most part, this means that there is a written name and/or inscription on one of the beginning pages. Also, we skim through the books to see if there is underlining or note taking on the pages. If there is minimal note taking or underlining we will include that also in the definition of “writing”. What the definition  does not  include is that every page is written on with notes and highlighter as to the point of making reading the text incredibly cumbersome. We do recognize that the word “minimal” might mean something differently to people. Therefore, we highly suggest that you message us for more information if you are not satisfied with what you see in the listing. We will help you.

How many book plates are there? How big are they?

This is two questions in one but they are highly relevant. For the most part book plates are used to refer to an ownership of the book. Usually, there is only one but sometimes there might be two.The other might be smaller and denoting the book shop where the item was sold. Therefore, when we say there is a bookplate we mean that there is exactly one affixed to one of the beginning pages of the book. Any more book plates will be mentioned in the condition portion of the listing. Please ask us for pictures about the size of the book plate. We will respond promptly.

What do you mean binding is “intact”?

The binding of the book is what holds it together. Therefore, if the binding is “intact” that means the covers of the book are not completely detached. For books valued more than $100 we will be much more specific because we do acknowledge that there is a possibility of the binding being somewhat detached as to show some of the webbing part but still attached that the covers are not falling apart. But for books valued at less than $100 please keep in mind that this might be a possibility. We know that everybody has different preferences. Therefore, you can always message us for more information.

Is this book a first edition?

We really don’t know. We evaluate each book based on previous sold items and we compare them with what is currently online for sale. We mostly refer to reputable book shops for first edition identification if need be. However,  if the book is believed to be a first edition we will take pictures of any portion of the book that suggests a first edition.

We do recognize that we are not experts therefore, any book listed as a first edition and someone is of the opinion that it is not, please message us. We will reevaluate and consider the feedback.

Most of the books we list might be first edition but of low value. We probably won’t make note of that, but if you are interested you can still message us and ask. High value first edition items, if there are any, will be dealt with carefully and meticulously.

What does “webbing” mean?

When a book reaches a certain age or if it is misused you will begin to see the portion of the binding that connects the book with the covers. Webbing isn’t necessarily a professional term but it does help convey the idea, I think. Please message me if you are not satisfied with the explanation. Thanks

What does “peeling off” mean?

Peeling off can be used interchangeably with fraying. Both words are meant to convey the idea of an aged book’s cover that is beginning to show the cardboard. It can be seen either from the corners of the book or around the edges. Please contact if you need more help.

How do you ship?

We have found that USPS media mail is the most economical shipping service for the United States. However, if you need a book shipped priority mail we do ask that you let us know. There will be an extra cost.

Do you sell internationally?

Sometimes. It depends on the value of the item. My father in law works as a customs broker so I have a decent idea of the costs of shipping items overseas. If the item is not that valuable then I will usually list it without any service overseas. The reason for this is the cost. I would like to keep my return policy as free returns. Return it back for any reason but it will be much more costly if a low valued item is returned and I have to pay for shipping that is 3 times the value of the item. It just does not make sense financially. Otherwise, high value items will have a service to most of the world.

Do you accept returns?

Yes. I do run a small business here in Los Angeles and I know how important it is to people that this is an option. I made it very simple. We accept returns with no questions asked. Simply, click return the item and ebay will provide a return label at my cost. Ship the item and get your refund. The process is that simple.
