USS Raleigh CL-7 US Navy light cruiser that was attacked at Pearl Harbor on a first day cover

postmarked at San Francisco, CA on April 25, 2014. Blue post-attack photo of ship printed

on an archive-quality envelope on cachet # 2700 by Alvin Eckert #9964 USCS.

Cover franked with a 3 cent USN stamp # 935 from 1946 and a flag stamp (FDOI).

Cover with a DIY matte and 5x7 frame makes fine gift for former sailors.

USS Raleigh CL-7 United States Navy Ship memorial cover honoring

Pearl Harbor 1941 Ships. This 555' long Omaha Class light cruiser, 

built in Quincy, MA was commissioned in 1924. On December 7, 1941 she was moored in the harbor

and fired on the enemy planes. She was damaged by an enemy torpedo in the attack and after repairs

joined the US forces escorting convoys.

This proud ship went on to earn 3 WW II Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater. She was sold

for scrap metal in 1946.
