Premier Paring 4"

The paring knife is an indispensable kitchen prep knife. For peeling, trimming, making decorative cuts, or even for cutting small foods like shallots or garlic, the small size of the paring knife gives you complete cutting control. Since every kitchen needs a paring knife—and since you are sure to use it just about every time you cook—it makes sense to own a paring knife you can love. May we suggest the Shun Premier Paring Knife? Of course, it is beautiful. But its real beauty comes from how well it performs. A thin lightweight blade and a razor-sharp edge make every paring task a breeze. The contour on the bottom of the handle ensures an excellent grip whether held by the handle or in a pinch grip.

Santoku 5.5"

All cooks have certain tools that really work for them. That's one of the reasons Shun makes so many different types of kitchen knives; so you can always find the ones that work best for you. The Shun Premier 5.5-in. Santoku is a case in point. Smaller than our full-sized santoku, this one is an in-between size and weight that make it perfect for most medium-sized kitchen tasks. Slicing baby carrots, dicing shallots, cutting butter or chocolate--all are perfect jobs for the Shun Premier 5.5-in. Santoku. If you have smaller hands or simply prefer a compact knife, this one is sure to become one of your favorite kitchen go-to knives.

Utility 6.5"

A good utility knife is the third member of your must-have kitchen knife line up. In size, it's between a chef's knife and a paring knife, making it the perfect size for all those in-between tasks. For trimming green beans, broccoli, and other jobs where you need some precision, your utility knife is an excellent choice. Any time a paring knife seems like too little and a chef's knife too much, reach for a utility knife. The Shun Premier Utility Knife offers a razor-sharp 6-in. edge that also makes quick work of anything that goes in a sandwich—meats, cheeses, tomato slices, and more. That specialized use is why this style of knife is sometimes called a sandwich knife.

Chef's 8"

Your chef's knife will be the most-used knife in your kitchen, so you want to find the one that feels like an extension of your arm. The beautiful Shun Premier 8-in. Chef's Knife could be the one. This breathtaking knife is lightweight, agile, and offers an extremely comfortable grip. In fact, Shun Premier's thinner blades makes this chef's knife lighter and less tiring to use than comparable European-style chef's knives. The 8-in. length and razor-sharp edge are perfect for slicing and dicing a full range of foods. The wide blade keeps knuckles off the cutting board and comes in extra handy when transferring cut food from board to pan. With its curved belly, the Chef's knife can be gently rocked through fresh herbs or spices to produce a very fine mince.

Bread 9"

If you bake or buy whole loaves of bread, a bread knife will be one of the most-used knives in your kitchen. Whether you love wonderfully crusty or delicately tender bread, the Shun Premier Bread Knife will be your loaf's new best friend, no matter what its texture. The key is Shun's razor-sharp, wide, “low frequency” serrations. Unlike a plain-edged knife, the serrations let you gently saw through the bread without crushing and with much less crumbing. Unlike sawtooth serrations that are spaced closer together, the Shun Premier Bread Knife's wide serrations will gently glide through the bread without tearing. This keeps the bread's texture intact and enhances eating pleasure. Cakes and pastries also benefit from the Shun Premier Bread Knife's smooth cutting capabilities.

Slicing 9.5"

Cut thin, even slices every time. With the Shun Premier Slicing Knife's longer length, narrower blade, and Shun-sharp edge, you can make long, even slices without tearing or sawing. This kind of clean cut keeps more of the meat juices—and thus more of the flavor—inside the meat. The Shun Premier Slicing Knife's 9-inch blade means you can cut slices with a single, long stroke. The narrow profile and razor-sharp Shun edge let the blade glide through the meat with less friction so each slice is perfect. Ideal for slicing a wide variety of meats, the Shun Premier Slicing Knife can also be used to cut larger vegetables.

Combination Honing Steel

With each use of your knife, the razor-sharp edge naturally bends over just a tiny bit. The edge is still sharp, but the sharpest part isn't making contact with the food. The remedy is honing with the Shun Premier Combination Honing Steel. The Shun Premier Combination Honing Steel gently realigns the edge of your blade. It offers two honing surfaces: a smooth one for weekly honing, and a micro-ribbed one for monthly honing. By honing your edge regularly, you can go longer between actual sharpenings.

While fine European knives can require honing after each use, Shun's harder steel means you can hone less often, depending on your level of use, of course. The Shun Premier Combination Honing Steel has an angle guide built into the handle, so you can easily hone your knives at the correct 16° Shun angle. The premium walnut Pakkawood handle provides a secure grip and matches the handles of the rest of the beautiful Shun Premier line.

11-Slot Bamboo Block

The Shun 11-Slot Bamboo Block displays your Shun collection beautifully and ensures the knife you need is always within easy reach. This attractive block is made of easy-to-clean, stain resistant bamboo, one of the world’s most renewable resources. All it requires to keep it clean is occasional wiping with a damp cloth. The natural hardness of bamboo means it resists knife marks and retains its handsome appearance even under consistent use. This block can accommodate up to nine knives, plus two additional slots for the honing steel and kitchen shears.
