A stunning set of Loose Leaf Reproduction Prints (8” x 6”) of Katsushika Hokusai’s world famous 36 views of Mt. Fuji.
This set contains not only the original 36 prints… but also the additional 10 newer prints that were later added to the set by Hokusai (commonly referred to as “back Fuji”). Making for a total of 46 prints. I have counted the prints 3 times… and every time come up with a count of 45. The previous owner must’ve lost (or maybe framed) one along the way. While I’m not 100% certain, a previous potential buyer was able to help me identify the missing print as “Red Fuji”. I’m fairly positive that’s the missing print.
Regardless, A very nice set in great condition. I was unable to even find another set exactly like it. Some newer similar (usually missing many prints… and almost never containing the +10 “back Fuji” extras). The thick paper, green leaf protective shell (which did such a good job protecting the prints) shows some significant fading, suggesting decent age)… but, exact age of the set is unknown.
