This is a hard-to-find British-made record case for holding 48 x 7" singles in
a concertina-style display, the design probably being influenced by the way
singles were held in a jukebox. It would have been an attractive accessory
for teenagers lucky enough to afford a Dansette or other portable record
player, especially the Dansette "Popular" which had the same colours.
The date of manufacture is around 1962 judging by the partial index card as
shown in photo with "The Ideal Carrying Case" at the top and filled in by a
previous owner with a list of their treasured pop singles all dating from 1960
and 1961.
The case is in good overall condition for its age with the internal red and
grey boards and sleeves in excellent order. It will come up great with a little
TLC to restore the metal parts and clean up the staining/foxing on the inside
as shown in the photo. It also comes with a Philips "Antistatic Discleaner"
cloth which is unused and dates from the mid-60s.
