ILLUMINATED ILLUSTRATION from THE LIFE OF THE LORD BUDDHA (THAILAND)

This beautifully detailed Thai illustration uses watercolor and ink on paper with gilded details.  

The scene depicts the wedding ceremony of Prince Saddhodana and Princes Mahamaya.

From my research, the illustration is very similar to the Phra Malai Manuscripts

(Thailand) created between 1860 - 1880.

It appears to be professionally framed.  The matt is a cream colored raw silk and the frame is gilded.  

The back, as shown, has a piece of thin wood, perhaps to "protect" the illustration.
