Removed from the well maintained, and undamaged, 2008 Yamaha FZ1S shown; a bike which I drove 15 miles prior to dismantling. The bike had 40121 miles on the clock, a long current MOT, and ran very well indeed (a video of the bike starting up is shown). .......
...........These forks are in very good overall condition and come from a bike with a straight front end. The previous owner informed me that the fork seals had recently been professionally replaced, but I don't have supporting paperwork for this ( ...... he did hand me the old oil seals). The chrome on both forks is in very good condition with no pitting on either. There is a small 'u' shaped light scratch on the chrome of the RHS fork (see pics). The scratch starts approximately 10mm from the dust seal. (see pics; arrowed in green) . A fingernail can only just catch the upper 10mms of the scratch. The lower tail of the scratch has no 'feel'. The chrome on the LHS fork shows some light wear immediately under the dust seal position. The wear takes the form of dark coloured linear marks; there is no 'feel' to the marks, and no associated pitting. There are three small marks to the face of the RHS fork boot (see pics). The forks are marked up 2D1-L2 and 2D1-R2 . They measure approx 741mm from the base of the top nut to the centre of the front spindle. The top yoke diameter is 50.5mm and the lower yoke diameter is 54mm. The top slot adjusters turn easily.
A brief summary of the actual donor bike :
This bike was bought privately by myself in December 2023. In the four months that he owned it, the previous owner had covered only 600 miles. The bike was sold to fund an offroad motocross purchase. There have been 5 previous owners. The last MOT was conducted on 08.09.23 and was a 'pass' with no advisories. The mileage at the time of the MOT was 39569 miles. An RAC vehicle check, conducted by myself on 6th December '23, shows the vehicle to be 'Clear' in all respects. The registered colour is 'Red'. The engine number was N513E0032915. The Date of Registration was 19.03.2008.
