On this album a variety of hymns and spirituals is presented. “A Spiritual

Festival,” which includes such favorites as ‘‘In That Great Gettin’-Llp Morning”

and “Go Down, Moses,” will stir each one who listens. Spirituals are spiritual.

They are both simple and profound, unique and recognizable. Their appeal is

universal. It is the touching and human quality of spirituals that communicates

to the listener.

Everyone will enjoy the Royal Blues interpretation of the fine hymns: “Praise

God From Whom All Blessings Flow”; “Holy, Holy, Holy”; “O God, Our Help

in Ages Past”; “Rock of Ages”; and others from “A Hymn Festival. Two trum-

pet solos are included, featuring Roger Abrew, the very capable director ol the

Royal Blues. It was through his leadership and imagination that the Royal Blues

was organized. His encouragement and skilled direction have helped to develop

this amateur group into a band which performs with precision, spirit, and a truly

professional sound.
