Jay was signed as a Bonus Baby in ‘53 by the Braves and had two terms with them, one in the beginning, and his second at the end of his playing days. But his success was most marked with the Cincinnati ball club, delivering two twenty game winning seasons in ‘61 (pennant year) and ‘62, winning 21 in both years. ‘61 was his All Star year, and in the series against the Yankees in ‘61 he won one and lost one game, which the Yankees took. In 13 years he finished with a lifetime 99-91 won lost record.
