This is a beautiful piece of Victorian era Quadruple Silverplate - a rectangular shape, footed JEWELRY BOX - decorated with a garden of embossed flowers, crowned with an openwork crest that serves as a handle.
It was made by the Meriden Britannia Company of Meriden, Connecticut - founded in 1852. This piece is shown on page 206 of The Meriden Britannia Silver-Plate Treasury - The Complete Catalog of 1886-7.
Marked: 2 circles - Meriden B. Company / around the scale logo in the first - & - Quadruple Plate / in the second.
