Babe Ruth B/W Photo 8x10” 1914 Rookie Year Boston Red Sox In 16x20” Frame . Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.

The greatest of all time (GOAT) Babe Ruth started his major league career with the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher. He twice won 23 games as a pitcher with the Sox, but was obviously good with the bat and wanted to play everyday. In 1919 he was converted to an outfielder and quickly went on to break the single season record for home runs that year with 29.

The Red Sox owner, Harry Frazee, was a Broadway Producer of musicals and needed immediate cash to put on the Broadway Show, No No Nanette. To raise cash quickly, Frazee sold Ruth to the New York Yankees for $100,000, which at the time was the largest amount ever paid for an athlete.

The transaction had major consequences for both franchises for decades to come. The Boston Red Sox, who had won 5 of the first 16 World Series Championships (3 with Ruth), would go on an 85 year drought ("The Curse of the Bambino") not winning another World Series Championship until 2004. Meanwhile the New York Yankees would go on to win 7 American League Pennants and 4 World Series Championships with Babe Ruth over a 14 year career in the Big Apple.
