Description: 3rd Edition of probably a composite World Atlas, published by W. Faden (London).
Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'L'Abbe Diquemare and L.S. de la Rochette'. L'Abbe Jacques-Francois Dicquemare (1733-1789). Louis Stanislas d'Arcy de la Rochette (1731-1802). Publisher: William Faden (1750-1836) Cartographer and publisher who took over Thomas Jefferys's business in 1771. He was Geographer to His Majesty the King and the Prince of Wales. Faden's work was of the highest standard.

Subject: Antique print, titled: 'A Chart of the British Channel and the Bay of Biscay, with a Part of the North Sea, and the Entrance of St. George's Channel.' - A detailed map of the coasts of the Netherlands and England, and south as far as northern Spain. This includes Belgium and France. Depth soundings, islands and coastal towns are indicated, as well as a few major naval battles. The course of Lord Howe's voyage is given as well as a naval battle (1st of June) is detailed on the left edge of the map.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds (as issued). Rear blank. Small tears in the top and lower edges of the rightmost fold (no affecting image). Three restored small tears in the top margin. A crease in the top right margin corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
