An original/authentic 17th century Spanish-colonial era Silver cob coin, 1/2-Real (Half-Real) denomination, mounted in a custom handmade bezel pendant. The bezel itself is sterling silver, there are also some very small yellow-gold accents (such as on the prongs, bail, etc.), but the gold fineness is uncertain, and the bezel is primarily composed of sterling silver, anyway. The coin would've been minted in either the late 1600s or the early 1700s, before the milled Reales (coins) went into circulation. This coin was water salvaged/sea salvaged, according to the prior owner, though the wreck is unknown/unidentified and the coin has no additional information beyond what is described here. There is some saltwater corrosion/pockmarks, as well as extensive surface wear, both attributed to the naturally occurring process known as the "shipwreck effect". The side of the coin with the cross is facing outward/forward, and is visible but very worn. The "back" or inward facing side of this coin exhibits the most notable of the damage, being almost totally obscured.
