Map XXVI Showing Preliminary Border Agreement Between Bolivia & Peru
The  April 20, 1886 Preliminary Border Agreement ( Del Valle–Carrillo Treaty)  which was signed in La Paz between the Peruvian Plenipotentiary Manuel María del Valle and the Bolivian Foreign Minister Juan C. Carrillo. The appointment of demarcation commissions was stipulated. Clearly established borders would be maintained. The populations would always remain on the side of the nation to which they belonged. In the doubtful points the titles would be resorted to; in the absence of these, to equity; and in case of disagreement, to arbitration. This treaty was not fulfilled, as it was not ratified.
