Description
Rare Vintage Tin Battery-Operated Jungle Trio Toy,
Linemar (Marx) Toys, Japan. 50's.
A nice rare vintage tinplate and plastic battery-operated
Jungle Trio toy with a monkey playing cymbals, another
playing a drum and an elephant blowing a whistle, all on
a circular tinplate base with lithographed images of jungle
animals on the side and top, made in Japan by the Marx
Toy Co. under their Linemar brand in the 1950's.
The figures bodies are tinplate while the
arms and heads are plastic.
The toy is in very good to excellent working condition with
some playwear and marks, one monkey’s foot has a
small chip to one toe and the elephant’s head has
discoloured a little, but the toy is complete and comes
with an original elephant’s whistle. The tinplate has
a few marks, mainly around the base, but the battery
box is clean and free from any rust.
When batteries are inserted and the toy is switched on,
all the animals move their heads and arms to play their
instruments and the toy makes a whistling sound to
represent the elephant’s whistle.
It measures around 8 inches in diameter by 7 inches tall
and is marked on the base (under the drumming monkey’s
leg) with the Marx Toys “Linemar Toys”, Trade Mark,
“Made in Japan” and “Copyright Linemar Toys Inc.”.
A lovely rare battery toy in very good working condition
that would make a great addition to any tinplate, battery
toy or animal collection, hard to find in any condition.
