Denis Henrion was an early 17th-century French mathematician
known for his contributions to the study of logarithms. However, his most
famous work was his ‘Usage du Compas de
Proportion’ – survey of the use of compasses (or the sector) and geometric
proportions. This 1681 first Paris edition of Henrion’s “Compass” features numerous in-text illustrated figures along with
the highly coveted folding engraving of the sector, or compass.
