Maxfield Parrish’s “Pandora” - Original Double-Matted (inner dk brown, outer ecru) and Framed Color Illustration (facing page 64) from the 1910 1st Edition of Hawthorne's ‘A Wonderbook and Tanglewood Tales’. Image is 6 1/4" x 5", outermost frame dimensions are 14 1/2”x 11 1/2”. Parrish MP signature barely discernible bottom left corner (photo 6). It is backed with 2-ply acid-free rag board, new dustcover and hardware February, 2023 and ready to hang. Great color and condition. The frame is a re-purposed diploma frame from the 80’s, thought it worked well. A  nice cost/size alternative to the full size print (Ref. Flack’s 4th, page 49, photo #16). Pandora was originally painted for, and first appeared as the color frontispiece in the October 16, 1909 issue of Collier’s Magazine featuring the article ‘Greek Mythology V’, issued as a print the same year and as an illustration in Hawthorne’s 1910 Wonder Book and several subsequent editions. Note: The first 12 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues; photos 13 (slight angle) 14 & 15 after completion of project. The last 3 photos (17, 18 & 19) the book itself, title page and illustrations page are shown for provenance only and ‘Not’ included. I refund shipping charges over actual.
