Synopsis:
Fifteen years post the catastrophic Second Impact, humanity faces an existential peril from otherworldly entities known as "Angels" descending upon Tokyo-3. Despite deploying their most advanced weaponry and military strategies, mankind finds itself defenseless against these monstrous beings. NERV, a secretive organization headed by the enigmatic Gendou Ikari, emerges as humanity's last bastion of hope. NERV harnesses giant humanoid constructs called "Evangelions" armed with cutting-edge weaponry and impenetrable defenses known as Absolute Terror Fields to confront the Angel threat head-on.
Amidst this chaos, Shinji Ikari, Gendou's estranged 14-year-old son, returns to Tokyo-3 after years of abandonment. Shinji grapples with deep-seated emotional scars stemming from the loss of his mother and his father's emotional detachment. His heart closed off to further hurt, Shinji's life takes an unexpected turn upon encountering Misato Katsuragi, a compassionate NERV officer who offers him a warmth and understanding he has long yearned for.
When a devastating Angel assault strikes, Shinji is thrust into action as Gendou unveils the true purpose behind his son's return: Shinji possesses the unique ability to synchronize with Evangelion Unit-01, a cutting-edge robot tailored to his biological specifications. Despite the harrowing psychological toll of piloting an Evangelion, Shinji rises to defend Tokyo-3 against the Angel onslaught, unaware of his father's sinister motives lurking in the shadows.
