This Spanish heirloom pepper -- the piquillo -- means 'little beak', because of its shape tapering to a pointy, oftentimes slightly curved tip.  These are sturdy and tall-growing plants that will benefit from plenty of sunshine and need a longer season to start producing ripe peppers.  The attractive red-ripe peppers measure 2-1/2-4 inches long without the stem and 3-5 inches long when the stem is included, and up to 1-1/2 inche wide at the widest part.  They are wonderfully flavourful and thinner-fleshed than the blocky type sweet peppers, and  with no heat detected (although some will say there may be minimal spiciness).  Great for cooking and stuffing.
