Shinji Tanimura's first SACD/CD is born
Mastered by master engineer Miura Miura.

We present here the first SACD/CD edition of ``Shinji Tanimura'', a stereo sound original selection of famous songs that you want to listen to on a full-fledged stereo audio system.

This disc includes songs from his Alice era that he had saved as masterpieces that he wanted to include when producing the 8-song Shinji Tanimura analog version (SSAR-013) released by Stereo Sound in April 2017. It consists of 16 songs in total. There are three types of sound sources used: analog master tape, Umatic digital master tape, and HDD master.

Famous songs from Alice's time, ``Autumn Stop'', ``Days of No Return'', ``Johnny's Lullaby'', ``Champion'', ``Winter Lightning'', ``No One Now'', ``While Listening to the Whistle in the Distance'', and ``Romantic Railway''. In addition, ``Chu'' from his 1974 solo album uses all analog master tapes. On the other hand, ``Gunjo'', ``Iihi Tabidachi'', ``Sarai'', and ``Fushikaden'' use U-matic digital master tape. "Subaru", "Santo Monogatari", and "The Sun Also Rises" use the 88.2kHz/24bit original hard disk master included in the best album "Shinji Tanimura with PIANO MY NOTE".

The person responsible for the production of this disc was Mizuo Miura, a famous engineer who leads Japan's leading sound production professional group "Mixers Lab". The DSD conversion was done at Studio B of LAB recorders, a recording studio in Nishiazabu, Tokyo.

For playback of analog master tapes, we prepared two strictly tuned Studer tape recorders, an A80 and an A820, and searched for the sonic compatibility between the master tapes and recorders in pursuit of the best sound. Ta.

On the other hand, the audio signal of the Umatic digital master tape is converted into a 44.1kHz/16bit digital file by Sony "PCM1630+DMR4000", and is converted to an 88.2kHz/24bit digital master and D/A converter Prism Sound "ADA-8XR". Converting to analog signal.

With 38 years of experience as an engineer, Miura Miura has worked with many famous artists on music production. During his recording career, he was involved in the recording production of Shinji Tanimura and Alice, and as an engineer who was most familiar with Shinji Tanimura's voice quality, he was particular about the most attractive point of Shinji Tanimura's vocals, which is to freely control the quality of his voice. The goal was to create the sound for DSD, which would make the most of the beauty of the changing singing and the high overtones of the voice.

For this reason, Miura Miura carefully selected two types of line amplifiers, the DRAWMER 1960 and the MANLEY STERO VARIABLE MU, which were prepared as line amplifiers, after listening to a lot of recording equipment. In order to give top priority to the freshness of the sound, I did not use any compressor function installed in the equipment here. Furthermore, when converting to DSD, we prepared two models, the "GML 8200" and "AVALON DESIGN AD2055 Pure ClassA EQ", in order to adjust the sound balance with the master. We aimed to maximize the potential.

The final A/D conversion to DSD and PCM, which served as the press master for this disc, was performed using a "Hapi" converter using Merging Technologies' Pyramix as the workstation. The work involves playing back the master and performing A/D conversion twice, once for the SACD layer and once for the CD layer. No down conversion was performed.

This is the birth of Shinji Tanimura's first hybrid SACD/CD disc, with simultaneous DSD recording and simultaneous PCM recording, mastered by master engineer Miura Miura.
