1950 Rand McNally Celestial Globe Zodiac Galileo BAKELITE STAND Copper 9" Table Globe> Globe measures 9" diameter,  in stand total measurements are approx. 11 1/2"high and 12" wide.  The globe can be lifted out of the stand and re-positioned as desired for specific study. 
"This celestial globe is surmounted by a plastic hour disk,mounted within a copper finished metal full meridian on a Bakelite cradle stand (brown with faux grain),  The horizon is marked with the directions of North, South, East and West. Constellations are shown in light blue outline as mythological figures and other formations against a midnight blue background.  Stars in yellow,  clusters and nebulae also indicated.  This globe was advertised in a 1956 Rand McNally School Catalog as "The Galileo - A 9 Inch Celestial Globe for the study of Astronomy.  "
