18th Century German Jewish RARE Community Token 


18th Century German Jewish Scarce Community Token. I have only seen a single similar token to the one sold at Kedem's auction in the past from Bruno Kirschner's important collection and attached is a photo from that sale from 2017. The great similarity can be seen in the way the token is inscribed. The token there was attributed to Germany from the 18th century and the initials on the back of the token were interpreted as "Hevra Kadisha gomlei hasadim". The token offered for sale here has a slightly different shape and size (about 40 mm' there and about 28 mm' here), it is attributed to another person, to "Yoel ben Uri" and this one is for "Kaufman ben Daniel Katz". On the reverse side there are different initials with the letters Lemad and Shin, but I do not know what these initials mean. If anyone knows or can make an educated guess on the matter, please send me a message and I'll add that info' to the sell. Bronze with Very Nice Patina, 27-28 mm' (irregular shape), 3.24 gr'.
