Japanese stone Fox Shinto Ornament.
This is an old Inari from the late Edo period. One ear is missing, and the front paws and hind legs have weathered away, leaving no original shape. It must have endured many long years. It features a quite thick tail, and such statues of Inari foxes with thick, plump tails are often interpreted as symbols of abundance and prosperity.
It somehow manages to stand on its own, but it might be better to place something underneath it to keep it straight. Please honor this historically significant fox of the shrine.
