Antique 1915-1919 Original Logo PYREX Glass Large Bread Baking Dish #214 "$"-CG Stamp

This plate shows the early version of the PYREX molded backstamp that includes "PYREX" in serif font as well as the so called "$" Stamp above and below the word PYREX. This is actually the Corning Glassworks "CG" monogram but looks like a backward "$" so is often confused as such.

In May 1919, the backstamp design was changed so this plate is older than that date. Also the original Logo did not include T.M. REG. and U.S. PAT OFF on it - that was added at some point between 1915 and 1919. This dish does not have this writing so is one of the original earliest pieces.

This earliest model has the design number (214) molded into the rim of the plate instead of on the backstamp.

This plate was made from the original strong borosilicate glass composition vice the common (and more fragile) lime soda glass used today.
