1955 Press Photo Wooden Cover For Ship Of Ancient Egyptian Monarch "Cheops"
This is an original press photo. New House For Cheops Ship. Cairo: A crude wood shack covers the opened chamber containing the recently-found solar ship of Cheops, near Cairo. Heavy limestone blocks covering the 4,7000-year-old boat have been lifted out to permit study of the 115-foot craft, and the shelter was erected to keep out sand and protect the historical treasure. The small pyramid behind the shack was built for one of Cheops' three wives. Archaeology. Egypt. Photo measures 9 x 6.25 inches. Photo is dated 1955.
