Vtg Abalone MOP Mexican Alpaca Silver Pitcher Ice Bucket Tongs Inlay 3 Piece Set

THIS IS LISTED IN TWO DIFFERENT CATEGORIES

This is a gorgeous vintage 3 piece bar set with a pitcher, ice bucket and matching ice tongs. Made in Mexico with maker’s hallmark or stamp on the bottom of the pitcher and bucket.

Each piece is covered in squares or inlays of iridescent “black” abalone— these days it’s very hard to find this type of abalone on newer items. It flashes several deep shades of blue, green, purple, lavender and pink depending on how the light hits it. These are works of art and beautiful to look at.

You can use the pitcher to fill it up with your favorite beverage and use the ice bucket with the tongs or just use the set for beautiful decorative display pieces.

The pieces are at least 50 years old, bought in Mexico by a family friend who lived there in the 60s and early 70s. These were made in Mexico with their famous Alpaca style. Pieces like these are getting harder to find in this condition.

Here are their measurements (some are approximate due to the shape of each piece):

Pitcher - 7” tall

Opening - 4.5” diameter

Expands to 6” diameter in center, 5” at bottom

Holds 64 oz of liquid

Ice bucket 5.25” tall

5” diameter at opening

3.75” diameter at bottom

6 sided (hexagonal)

Holds 32 oz liquid (within 1” of the top)- unsure how many ice cubes it holds but this should help give you an idea

Tongs 5.25” long

1.5” wide

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please see pictures for details.

Condition:

There are no missing abalone pieces. There are 2 round wire handles that attach to the 2 small metal loops on the ice bucket- they’re missing. There’s some spots on the inside of each piece but they are aesthetic only and don’t do anything to reduce the functionality of either piece. They should buff out with metal cleaner. Otherwise, everything is there and they are in excellent condition.

All reasonable offers will be considered. Just make the offer and I’ll let you know.
