Tabernaemontana divaricata is also known as crepe jasmine. An evergreen flowering shrub and popular houseplant. The flower resembles a pinwheel, giving it the popular name pinwheel flower. It is also known as the milk flower because when its stems are broken, a milky liquid oozes out. This plant is an evergreen shrub that can grow up to 2.5 meters. Fragrant white pinwheel shaped flowers bloom year round. A popular choice as a background for gardens.

Sunlight
Can be grown in full sun to partial shade. When growing it indoors be sure to place it in a sunny location to provide 6-7 hours of sunlight.

Watering
Water frequently as the plant likes moist soil. In the early stages you may need to water the plant daily and once the roots are established, water less and allow the soil to dry out.

Soil
The plant prefers a moist well drained soil rich in organic matter. Once established it only needs a little water. It grows in acidic soil but may need fertilizer for optimal results. Mulching the base of the plant keeps the soil moist and prevents it from drying out.

Fertilizer
Like all flowering plants this plant needs phosphorus and nitrogen to ensure lush foliage. Use good quality compost.

Temperature
This plant is extremely heat loving and any cold temperature can damage it. In autumn it is recommended to bring Crape jasmine indoors and place it near a bright window. Maintaining a temperature above 20 degrees Celsius in winter is beneficial for plant growth.

Propagation
This plant can be propagated by cuttings. Plant the cuttings in a pot of moist compost soil. Cover the bowl with a plastic bag to retain moisture. In about three weeks, the new plant will establish roots and show new leaf growth. Then transfer it to a suitable container.
