• This piece was part of the four (4) piece set was in the earliest known silk lined box for Carlton Ware 
• Carlton Ware, as did other potteries, offered their more expensive wares in silk lined presentation boxes
• The retailer's name and address was often printed in gold to the silk that lined the lid, indicating that it was a special order item for the more prestigious shop or store
• As an antique piece, there is wear noted on the sterling silver mount/top - I would highly suggest that this would be best used as a decorative collector's piece, as I cannot ensure that it can be 100% cleaned to be used as a sugar shaker
