This hand scroll replica of Choju Giga Vol-1 depicts monkeys, rabbits, frogs and other animals behaving like human beings, engaging in various rituals and merriments. The scroll consist entirely of black monochrome drawings in a continuous flow of vignettes in a free and animated style. It's a unique representation of Japanese culture. - The scroll is a series of lithographs on medium weight paper, joined together on a wood spindle.
- The scroll is approximately 5 inches wide and 150 inches (12+ feet) long.
- In original box with "Explanations" in both English and Japanese included.
- Notations on back of the box indicates it was acquired no later than 1965.
