Elegant gossamer 1950s or 60s Turban confection of taupe Tulle with feathers made to look like bird's wings, from Harold of Minneapolis. The "wings" are dreamily visible under a layer of Tulle. Harold of Minneapolis was connected to the grand old department store Dayton's, the first stop of many women who were shopping for a hat back in hats' golden years. This one would have been difficult to resist. Just the kind of thing one of the famous "Swans" might have worn (had they gone shopping in Minneapolis). More likely these feathers were worn by a fabulous Midwestern Swan! I'm pretty sure that the "Bird's wings" were constructed of individual feathers. The more I study this hat the more I respect it--what an amazing design! It really is kind of dreamlike. Please see photos, read everything and let me know if you have questions. Thank you.
