Struck in Kang Ding, near the border of China Szechuan (sichuan) province and Tibet, Tibet Trade Coinage was meant to replace the Indian Rupee which was used in Eastern Tibet and western Szechuan Province in the 19th century and is considered the forerunner of the Szechuan rupee. Tibet Trade Coinage was minted during four different period.
