Ajaccio, Corsica - The Algerian Guallist revolt against the Paris government is reported 5/24 to have spread to this Corsican capital city. The port city of Ajaccio on the west coast of Corsica, shown in a 9/19/43 file photo, was reportedly taken over by a "Committee of Public Safety," similar to the one in control in Algeria. The French government called the action "an insurrection against the State," and Premier Pierre Pflimlin called an emergency cabinet meeting. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1943.
