A unique, colorful Australian Opal cabochon made from a piece of fossil shell found in Coober Pedy. It is fairly large, just under 3/4” of an inch.

A full range of colors can be seen at every angle, largely turquoise blue/greens and red/orange flashes and every color in between visible. The base is a light periwinkle purple color, characteristic of Opalized clam shells.

Note the natural curve and undulating thickness of the opalized shell. It has been mounted onto natural ironstone to allow it to sit flat in a setting.

It has been photographed in natural lighting to depict this piece as accurately as possible.

It measures 16mm in length, 12mm in width, and just under 4mm in maximum thickness. Weighs 5 carats.
