This incredible run of 5-pound notes dates to the early years of WWII.

Nominal wage statistics recorded by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show that five pounds were pretty much the average weekly wage throughout World War II.

We don't need to be rocket scientists to conclude then that this run of 4 five pound notes was equivalent to a month's average wages at the time they were issued.

That was an incredible amount of money at a time when staples such as clothing, tea, sugar, butter and meat were strictly rationed right across the country.

These notes have great paper quality and body - the intaglio is raised in sections on the front, that's how fresh they are.

The higher denominations from the King George VI period are incredibly tough to get in consecutive runs - this run has also been independently graded.
