1952 Five Pound Coombs/Wilson R48 PCGS Choice Unc 63

Period on Issue: March 1952 ~ July 1954
Mintage: 30,294,000
This is a superb example of this higher denomination dating to the Korean War.
King George VI came to the throne in 1936, and was Australia's head of state during our sesquicentennial (150th anniversary of settlement); World War II and the Korean War. King George VI died on February 6th, 1952.
Coombs Wilson is the last signature on Australian notes featuring King George VI, and the total mintage was quite low not only due to the King's death but also because of the economic crash boom in wool prices in 1951 due to the Korean war.
