Excellent Condition - Great Postally Historic Collectible Relic
Condition:
All Print blocks, plates, cuts, et al that we're offering came from a traditional (pre-digital) print shop closed in the 1950s. Some were used in print projects, others were never used. We took a new toothbrush to those that were used to clean the dust off of them but did not go further (e.g. scrubbing with soap and water or solvent). Items listed vary in condition from Good to Near Mint. Steel cuts typically have at least some pitting or evident rust. Let the photos be your guide: WYSIWYG.
Provenance:
This letterpress type originated from the Thielecke & Company (print shop), owned and operated by Carl F. Thielecke, in the small town of Golconda, Illinois (population 630 in 2020) approximately between the years of 1902-1958. The shop set type, slugs arranged with cuts and ad plates for pages for newspapers, flyers and one-sheeter brochures. Their speciality was Print one or 2color foil embossed labels from and zinc blocksplates to Hype Sales Specials on Product Packaging and to create die-cut package labels.
